ProSTEP iViP is a registered association based in Darmstadt, Germany. Members of the ProSTEP iViP Association currently include about 160 companies and organizations from 17 nations. Aim is to provide solutions for the challenges of manufacturers and suppliers of the manufacturing industry, software vendors and service providers as well as research institutions within the field of product data technology and virtual product creation. Results of these activities are published as standards.
The association was founded as ProSTEP Association in 1993 by Bosch, Continental, Daimler, Delphi, Opel, Siemens, Volkswagen and 30 other companies and research institutions. After the successful closure of Germany’s biggest publicly founded PLM research project ever, iViP (German acronym for integrated virtual product creation), the results where handed over to the association in 2003. This scope extension led to the establishment of currewt ProSTEP iViP Association.
ProSTEP iViP provides results as so-called ProSTEP iViP Recommendations and together with other internationally accepted standardization bodies, like ASD-STAN, ISO and OMG.
